September 13 - ANTICIPATION
Today I am grateful for waking up early after getting some much needed rest. Flying always manages to take a lot of me, let alone when the flight takes over 14 hours total.
I woke up, grabbed a taxi through the Uber app (because taxis are connected to Uber here) and before I knew it, I was waiting downstairs in the empty street for my ride to arrive. The gentleman who gave me a ride was nice. He was originally from Pakistan and had been in Barcelona for 12 years. We had a nice conversation and then it was time to drop me off near my gate.
I had the opportunity to freshen up before getting some additional help with my plane ticket to Santiago De Compostela. The lady was very nice and was able to take care of an issue I had with my seat and then I was off on my way.
Talk about chance encounters, because as I was making my way to the security checkpoint, two gentlemen (maybe German?) flagged me down and asked me if I had the little “tool” that can open up a phones Sim card compartment…and as a matter of fact, I did!
My passport holder came with the ability to hold one, so I naturally put one there in case someone may need it (maybe I was a boy scout in a previous life? Haha) and so they were so happy and relived to have finally found the one person in this sea of people to carry that little tool. They used it and were very happy. We shook hands, wished each other well in our travels and continued making our way towards our individual destinations.
I stopped to get myself a quick bite at a place that was advertising a coffee, orange juice an croissant combo for 7 euros. I asked if I could change my coffee to a cappuccino and when they said yes, I was sold. It was a beautiful and elegant restaurant called La Donatella.
Life Is GOOD.
