September 12 - I arrive
Today I am grateful for a trip without any delays and although longer than my regular flights, it still went by relatively quickly.
Once I arrived to Barcelona, I was greeted by a wave of nostalgia as I had walked through these same streets over a decade ago. It’s incredible to think how much life has changed since then and how much I have grown as a man, but more importantly a faith filled man.
I am grateful for my taxi driver Francisco. Who was teaching me a bit about the city, but was also kind enough to compliment my Spanish since I don’t use it very often. We were exchanging travel stories and he mentioned that his favorite destination by far had been Morocco.
I shared with him how I was here to do the “The Last 100” of the Camino De Santiago, and although he’d known about it, he also mentioned he hadn’t gotten in him to do it yet. I mentioned that I had stopped myself for several years with one excuse after another. But I finally had a breakthrough moment where I no longer wanted excuses but instead results. It was this that led me to book the trip with an attitude of “now or never” since it would have been easy to kick this can further down the road.
My Camino doesn’t start for another couple of days, but my journey into this next chapter of my life has already begun.
